TRAVEL + ADVENTURE + SUSTAINABILITY

I cover the intersection of travel, adventure, culture and sustainability for outlets such as AFAR, National Geographic, BBC, Outside, Time, Newsweek, CNN Travel, Architectural Digest and more. My work highlights (positive) impact-driven travel, and I’m focused on covering more stories through the lens of climate consciousness. My climate pieces on National Geographic cover how the world could look in 2070 and how oysters are an unlikely climate ally.

I’ve written for AFAR since 2015 (both print and online); my print features include trekking on the Alps’ largest glacier. I’ve written for AFAR about the rise of bad travelers; hiking the O Trek in Patagonia; climbing the highest mountain in Europe: Mt. Elbrus; Japan’s art islands; uphill skiing; and the secrets of the happiest people in the world.

Formerly the magazine’s travel editor, Newsweek allowed to me interview some incredible people: I spoke to Jane Goodall about the pandemic and her hopes for the planet; Ewan McGregor about riding 13,000 miles through Latin America on an electric Harley; director James Cameron about Avatar and his other favorite sentient beings—whales; Jimmy Chin about his new Oscar-buzz film ‘The Rescue’; and Hearts in the Ice, the first women to overwinter in the Arctic alone for climate action.

I love to interview activists and changemakers, as well as cultural icons too: such as Eugene Levy and Rainn Wilson on their new travel shows.

For Outside, I’ve written about the quietest parks in the U.S. For CNN Travel, I’ve covered Anthony Bourdain’s legacy and ice swimming in Finland. From dancing to the top of Kilimanjaro to scuba diving through an underwater prison in Estonia, I take the unexpected route.
